Lying in bed last night I was thinking about Ben & Kim's wedding in August and who we were going to invite. It's an age-old question - who can't you invite?
Weddings and funerals are about the only occasions we have these days for big get-together of family and friends (not so many christenings these days)
Then I started thinking - why not have a big celebration just for its own sake? Invite everybody (well - all friends and relatives, anyway).
I thought I'd keep a blog on how the thing develops. I've never written a blog before, but it will be interesting to log how the plan develops and perhaps share it with others.
Then I started thinking about the practicalities: When? Where? Who? What sort of occasion?
It can't be this year (we don't want to detract from the wedding and anyway, we need more time to organise). What about next July? It's our wedding anniversary on July 4th. It will be 38 years next year. Not an especially significant number, but it gives something to hang it on. July 4th is on Monday next year, so let's work towards the weekend of July 2/3 and give people as much notice as possible so that they don't book their holidays before they know about it.
Then I thought about venues: Watermill theatre grounds? Mottisfont? The pub in Romsey with the big marquee? Need to do some esearch and discuss it with Sue.
No time to write any more. To be continued.................
